Alciston Court Farm:
A Blend of Heritage and Organic Innovation

Nestled within the picturesque South Downs National Park, Alciston Court Farm is a sprawling 500-acre estate, an integral part of the historic Firle Estate, owned by the esteemed Gage family. The Walton family has proudly stewarded this land since 1922, cultivating a deep connection to the area's rich agricultural heritage while passionately embracing the future of farming...

The farm's history is profoundly intertwined with Battle Abbey, with the farmhouse originally serving as a grange. The estate's crown jewel is the magnificent Grade I listed Alciston Tithe Barn. This truly remarkable structure, dating back to approximately the 1600s, stands as one of the largest in Sussex, stretching an impressive 170 meters. Alongside the charming Dovecote, it's a testament to centuries of agricultural tradition and, remarkably, still functions as a working agricultural building.

Looking forward, Alciston Court Farm is now strongly focused on the future, with many diverse aspects to its farming operations. We are proud of our transition to organic farming practices, reflecting our deep commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable agriculture. Our diverse array of organic arable crops now includes high-quality organic milling wheat, organic malting barley, peas, beans, linseed, oats, and oilseed rape. This evolution ensures the continued protection and preservation of the iconic South Downs landscape, guaranteeing its beauty endures for generations to come.

Discover the rich history, stunning natural beauty, and progressive organic farming of Alciston Court Farm and its remarkable Tithe Barn—a unique and unforgettable location for your special event, rooted in tradition yet focused on a sustainable future.
